FC2GChem 2016

From 05/09/2016 to 05/13/2016

Lyon - France

The “French-Chinese conference on Green Chemistry, a better chemistry for a better life”, FC2GChem will take place in Lyon, from May 9 to May 13, 2016.

Organized under the auspices of the French and the Chinese Academies of Sciences, this FC2GChem conference will gathers more than 100 Chinese and French scientists both from industry and academia in an interdisciplinary environment involving, organic, catalysis, materials, process and theoretical chemists. The conference will be honored by the presence of several members of both academies.

The access to the conference will be widened, under the shape of a summer school, to the PhD students of the Lyon Doctoral School concerned with the field of Green Chemistry. Those PhD students, among which those coming from China and sponsored by the China Scholarship Council (CSC), will receive a wide range of knowledge and information on main issues of green chemistry, both at the fundamental and industrial levels. In contact with representatives of French companies, in particular those having research centers located in China, and of the best Chinese and French academic laboratories, they will get useful information for preparing their future post-doctoral cursus.

Chemistry intervenes in all the manufactured goods, products and materials of the everyday life and in the most important fields of our society: energy, construction, transportation, foods, hygiene, health, etc. In the frame of a sustainable development respectful of the environment, such an omnipresence of chemistry in the modern life prompts us to minimizing pollution and hazard of the chemical processes. This is the goal of Green Chemistry that looks for innovative chemical processes and products which show lower impact, notably with respect to users and manufacturers safety, life cycle and low toxicity, natural resources preservation, low greenhouse gas emissions. Indeed, green chemistry is a way to a safer, healthier and more comfortable life for all, which necessitate considerable scientific and technologic efforts. The goal of the conference is to catalyze such an effort among French and Chinese researchers. A prize (FC2GChem-Université de Lyon) will be awarded to two young Chinese researchers who will be invited to present their work during the conference.

This conference follows the very successful 2014 events organized in Shanghai and Wuhan, combining two former series of meetings (Sino-French Conference on Green Chemistry and the Better Chemistry for better life), which took place in Shanghai, Guangzhou and Lyon.

The Lyon 2106 FC2GCHem event will be held on the LyonTech La Doua Campus, on the premises of INSA Lyon, one the Institutions belonging to the University of Lyon, which will contribute to the organization of the event together with the others institutions : University Lyon1, ENS Lyon, CPE Lyon. A significant number of younger researchers and students will be invited and will benefit from a wide range of conferences in all fields of Green Chemistry. The conference will favor the seeding of future collaborations and provide opportunities for exchanging information on institutional tools dedicated to the financial support of French-Chinese collaboration and exchange of students between France and China.
